Aadhaar is creating too much fuss. Seriously! I have been always skeptical about this Biometric data storage and access restrictions. People compared it with Americas SSN but a guy working on server security, firewalls and encryption – I knew Indian Government (any) may not be handling it as required. This linking menace is growing each day and now there is deadline of March 2018 to link all financial things.
So, I received an email and SMS that I have to link Aadhaar with FundsIndia.com. KYC was done but now if I don’t link my account with Aadhaar – all my funds and instruments will be inaccessible. Suddenly, I am a terrorist! I know.
How to Link Aadhaar with FundsIndia
As soon you login into your FundsIndia account, you’ll see a reminder and warning which you can’t miss. This first screenshot is older one, when deadline was 31st December 2017. So, don’t worry about it.
You can click “Remind Me Later” but then you will not be able to find the page. So, I have given the direct link below. It will take you to login page and then same reminder will appear. This link might change. Let me know if this doesn’t work.
Click on “Link my Aadhaar Now” and a quick, clean screen will appear in a jiffy.
Enter you Aadhaar number in first and second re-enter fields. Also, select both the disclaimers given below. Long story short, this says that FundsIndia will use you Aadhaar along with KYC details for all Mutual Funds you hold with them or initiate further on.
Hit “Verify Aadhaar with OTP“. Now, this will need your Aadhaar linked Mobile number or at least e-mail ID. The OTP will be sent to both places. If you don’t have access to any of these, then you can upload a copy of Aadhaar from the link given at bottom. So, no way to escape!
Enter the OTP and click on “Verify and link my Aadhaar“. If everything is fine with your Aadhaar details and basics matches with your FundsIndia account, you will see below notification.
This says that they will verify the details but in my case, I received a confirmation on message that all went fine.
You can also confirm this within your FundsIndia account. Navigate to “My Accounts” –> “Manage Investors” –> “View Investor Details“.
You will see something like this which will say “Aadhaar linked“.
Which Mutual Fund platform / aggregator do you use? and Have you linked the Aadhaar with your Mutual Funds accounts? Was it super easy like FundsIndia or just pain?
