flashtool

Devs at XDA are working hard to come with an All-in-One Tool for Sony Ericsson Android devices. Work is going at good pace and they have released FlashTool. Right now it supports Xperia X8, X10, X10 Mini, X10 Mini Pro, Arc, Play, Neo and some other Xperias, but soon it will cover more phones. I think Arc and some other models are not tested. So, its your risk. May be one day this tool will be for all androids at for least Sony Ericsson Xperias.

There are other tools also, no doubt. However, you don’t get them freely and they are not easy to use. There are many uses of this flashtool it and this is a great software. Hazzle free and very powerful.

WHAT IT CAN DO?

Well, It has following capabilities:

* Flash: Flashing original Images (Android 1.6 & 2.1 Images)
* Root: Root your phone (currently only if its on 2.1 Android)
* Recovery Support: Install xRecovery, Busybox etc.  I hope to have ClockWorkMod in it soon.
* Cleaning ROM:  That means removing System Apps which you don’t need. (remove /system/apps)
* Clear dalvik cache
* Optimization by installing JIT (just in time) v2
* PC to Phone Apps installation (Put apps in custom/apps folder of the flashtool to do this)
* Clean uninstalled apps. (this removes any references to system apps removed in the Clean (root needed) step)
* Build.Prop: Edit /system/build.prop

More features will come soon.

This post will be updated as new features and versions are available.

IMPORTANT:
– Make sure you Pause/Stop your Antivirus before using FlashTool.
– Rooting doesn’t need more than drivers and correct tools but if you also want to Flash, then you will need to .SIN and .FTF Bundle files for your Phone Model. To get them refer this post on XDA.
