Now, to the review.

UPDATE: GraphicStock is now StoryBlock. Coupon removed till further update.

Name and Claim

Headquartered in Virginia, GraphicStock is listed in Inc.500 as #4 fastest growing media company. They are now claiming of 150,000 images in their collection for downloads. Currently, they provide more of graphics, illustrations and vector (Photoshop stuff) than the photography content.

The things I liked.

1. Unlimited downloads:

This is the thing which covers all shortcomings (yeah, I will come to that) of GraphicStock. When every service out there is charging on per image basis, GS is providing unlimited downloads and usage. If you subscribe to a thousands of dollar pack at other sites, the lowest you can get is like around 0.34 cent per download and there are other limits. The 7 day free trial provides you 20 images per day, i.e. 140 images just for trial. Think what you can do with $99/year unlimited pack.

2. Subscription

Subscription can be cancelled at any time, which also applies for a 7-day free trial. You can keep items you downloaded and use it as the way you want and many times you like, even after cancelling the subscription. There are no additional fees ever. You can claim a full refund in 30 days if you haven’t downloaded anything.

3. Quality and Usage

Quality of images at GraphicStock is pretty good. Available formats for most of the stock items are JPG, PNG, PDF and EPG. The images, and vectors are pretty excellent for projects, developers and bloggers. As per site, their collection is ideal for,

Graphic design, Website themes, Smartphone apps, Flyers, Business cards, Animations, Games, Party invitations, Signs-banners, Brochure, etc.

I don’t see a reason, why these aren’t decent for blogging.

4. Genre

There is almost something for every mind at this site. I was impressed, how they targeted the keywords for common things. Web Designers, Project workers, app makers will find great thing in backgrounds, abstracts, beauty, fashion, and elements, etc.

5. DropBox support

This impressed me even more. 7 day trial doesn’t offer this but it is available with all other subscriptions. This comes handy as you can store and then use your images from almost anywhere. Your purchased content is always safe and available. I just them to add some more like Google drive, Box etc.

The things I didn’t like (say suggestions for GraphicStock)

1. UI

Interface is quite easy, but actually, it is may frustrate. You click download and wait a bit for a pop-up to get an option for the formats. There is also a lightbox button which helps you store image in personal collection – which I thought is useless (keep reading). There are times when buttons act as dead zone and nothing happens after clicking them.

2. Useless Lightbox

You can create as many as lightbox and add as many images as you want, just to discover that you will still need to download every item separately – one by one. There is no collective download feature. So, avoid using lightbox unless you really want to categorize items. One more thing. Adding items to lightbox is also pain. Interface doesn’t remember the last choice.

3. Missing vital details and download preferences

Unless you go to main download page for each item, you don’t get any detail about size, dimension, pixels etc. Moreover, even if you go to main download page these details are still missing by available ‘formats’.

Important part of Stock item business is about dimensions, size and pixels. GraphicStock only provides items in the size and dimension it has. There is no option to select from Original, Medium, or Small. May be a balancing weight for unlimited downloads.

3. Marked downloaded and re-downloads

The download feels stuck sometime, may be a UI bug. I tried it on real 2Mbps connection. If the download doesn’t complete it will still be marked as downloaded and is already counted towards your quota (beware trial users).

Again, as every download is counted as one use then downloading same item is counted as new. So, if you want to download an item again, even if it failed first as said above, it will be counted as one more toward your credit. If you have already finished your quota, you will get something nasty like this,

Download limits graphicstock

But again, this thing will be only applicable to trial offers.

4. Affiliate section

There is one option for referral links which helps you to send one email at a time. You can see your link after that or extract it from mail. However, there seems to be no proper system or section for affiliates.

GraphicStock do provide separate affiliate section which is handled through CandyReferral.

Update: 02-APR-2014

This is regarding GraphicStock returns policy. People are reporting that they are hearing about issues in money returns. They are saying that these things doesn’t look good (as one of the reader said in comments). I would like to say about this, and so the update.

GS policy clearly states that they won’t return any money for the period which you have downloaded even a single image. If you are billed from 1st then stop downloading since then.

They seem legit to me. I got returns in less than 24 hrs. Here are the proofs,

1. Cancellation mail sent by and the reply;

2. Bank account statement;

Note: The difference you see here is due to USD/INR exchange rate that day. It was a volatile day.

The only people who gets hurt are the one who avoid TOC/TOS and think they are genius to fool people. This doesn’t happen as nowadays everything is logged by automation system.

If you didn’t download anything, they will return your money.

Final Say

GraphicStock is an amazing service. It is actually a boon for bloggers and developers who want to grow with minimum investment for something like images and media. It is a new company and needs to fix its UI, dead zone bugs, and add features to make things easier. Furthermore, they can do something about downloading preferences and affiliate marketing.

In the end, I will still recommend it. Why? Because, ‘Unlimited downloads’ outweighs everything. Tell me, where you are going to get unlimited premium stock items for a year (with fresh content added daily) at such rates? If you also put in the offer of $99/year, then it is a pretty sweet deal for bloggers, designers and marketers.
